He finished ahead of his team-mate and secured the title of best rookie of the season.

Pepe Martí wrapped up his first season in the FIA Formula E Championship with a strong performance in London. The CUPRA KIRO driver finished eighth in the final race of the year and, with the four points he scored, ended the championship in 13th place, ahead of his team-mate and as the best rookie of the season.

After a difficult Saturday, during which an incident with Jean-Éric Vergne forced him to retire and resulted in a three-place grid penalty for Sunday’s race, Martí responded with a solid performance. He started from 13th and managed his energy throughout the first half of the race before stepping up the pace in the closing laps.

With two late Attack Modes and plenty of energy in reserve, the Barcelona-born driver produced an impressive recovery to reach eighth place. The result allowed him to move ahead of Dan Ticktum and Felipe Drugovich in the championship standings and made him the highest-scoring driver for CUPRA KIRO over the course of the season.

Martí therefore ended his Formula E debut with two podium finishes, a best result of second place and points in nine of the 17 races he contested. He was also recognised as the championship’s best rookie, bringing his first season in the category to a strong conclusion.
