Recovery drive from twelfth to ninth.

He adds two more points to the Championship.

Pepe Martí has returned to the points in the FIA Formula E, this time at a Miami E-Prix that featured very challenging conditions. The CUPRA KIRO driver climbed from twelfth on the grid to ninth to score two more points, bringing his total to eight in the Championship and keeping him as the team’s main reference in terms of points.

Pepe arrived in Miami after scoring his first six points in the Formula E World Championship, with the aim of maintaining that momentum. To kick off the E-Prix, the Spaniard recorded a ninth place in FP1 and fourth in FP2, but had to settle for twelfth on the grid for the race. Even so, he outperformed his team-mate in qualifying.

The race began on a wet track, which made the task more difficult for Pepe Martí, as not only did he have to continue his adaptation process to the car and the circuit (everything was new to him), but it was also the first time he had started a Formula E race under such conditions. Despite this, he held his position on the opening lap and soon moved up to eleventh.

Pepe’s recovery continued with two more positions gained, meaning that by the midpoint of the race he was running ninth. After two almost consecutive activations of Attack Mode, the CUPRA KIRO driver moved up to eighth and found himself involved in a battle with several drivers to secure a strong haul of points for the Championship.

In a very busy final phase of the race, the Catalan driver crossed the finish line in ninth position, confirming two more points for the Championship. After an unfortunate start to the season in São Paulo, Pepe has now recorded two consecutive top-ten finishes and has scored all eight of the points currently held by the team.

With the Miami E-Prix now in the history books, Season 12 of Formula E heads next to Saudi Arabia, specifically Jeddah, where a double-header will take place from the 12th to the 14th February.
